I have noticed this for a number of years now, but never found an answer, maybe someone here has an explanation. In years past when walking through the woods you would almost step on a Pat before it launched itself into the air scaring the bejesus out of you. Now and for a lot of years already they take off when you are thirty or forty yards away. What do you think contributed to such a dramatic change in their behavior?
