Got out for the first time yesterday in several (6 or so?) years. Had planned for South haven, but some friends encouraged us to try port Sheldon. Lake had still not quite laid down from previous days wind but by 9 or so it was relatively calm out there. Had some downrigger problems and spent a good portion of the morning in the bottom of the boat fixing that with only 2 rods in the water. Had one release right away in 90ft. Then didn't net our first til 1030 out in 130ft on a SWR with mixed veggie. Lost another at 11 in 150ft on a full core with double orange crush. Fish buried the planer and it came loose and slid down the line Called it a day at 1 to go to church. Not a great outing fish wise, but felt great to be out on lake Michigan again. When the water finally laid down and the wind laid down it was a great day for a boat ride. Hope to do it again next weekend.
6/7 shakedown
