Trim and Tilt Problem

I have a 1993 40 HP Mercury that I had the tilt go out on about 4 years ago. I ended up putting a new unit on it, but it cost big $$$. Went out to get the boat out for the first time this spring and the trim would not tilt the motor up. The trim motor runs, and it seemed to want to tilt it down, but nothing in the up direction. I finally unscrewed the pressure release screw in order to manually tilt it up, but had to back that so far out, that quite a bit of fluid came out. Once I had it up, I backed out the fill screw and a ton more fluid came out. I've tried refilling the fliud, but despite the large amount that spilled out, I am unable to get any more to stay in when I add it to the "fill hole". With the loss of fluid now it doesn't want to tilt down either. I really haven't used this boat more than a couple times each year since I put the new trim/tilt unit on it, so I'm pretty frustrated at this point, as this is for all practical purposes a nearly new unit. Does anyone have any advice on this situation, or could possibly recommend a decent repair facility for something like this? (I live near the Howell/Brighton area) Thanks in advance!!

Bob
