I got home from work the other day and used the toilet. It flushed strange. Then went to wash my hands. Nothing. No water anywhere in the house. I check the obvious things but it was clear my pump wasn't working. I pop off the box in my crawl space for the pump and it was toasted. I called the well digger and they came over and confirmed my well was hit by lightning. He tells me that this is very common. They replaced the pump and all the wires to it. Insurance covered it all but still had a 1K deductible. He told me that I was lucky as he has seen where a fire actually starts in the box after it is hit. Crazy stuff.
