Waterfowl get educated. Too many spinners used, they flare to spinners. They learn what layout boats look like, layout blinds, raffia grass, etc. In those situations, and similar to what Far Beyond Driven experienced, you might get some luck hiding in something the ducks aren't used to seeing dangers near, such as a 22' Four Winns; however, I would not waste my time doing that, especially this time of the year.
I was golfing in Arizona this past weekend (went to the WM Phoenix Open, you guys have to try that before you die), and there was tons of wigeons, teal, mallards, coots and many others all over the ponds and greens on the course I was playing. They didn't care about us golfers. I even hit my ball basically under some geese, walked up and literally had to shove one over with my shoe to get it to move out of the way. They just aren't used to golfers tying to hurt or kill them. It's all about what's been providing them the danger. Education.
