Hit up The Lady...

For the first trip of the year and she didn't disappoint.

Fished out of Port Bolster Sun pm thru Tue am..

Started out in chicken bay and only boxed 3 marginal fish in an hr... work my way down towards McCray's Reef hit a couple spots..mostly Dinks..

Bounced out past the rental huts and got set up in 27FOW just in time for the winds to hit... sustained at 25-30 and white out conditions. No mention of that in the forecast!

Hunkered down for the rest of the afternoon and ended up with 21.

Headed out Mon am with another guy from our group chasing some intell off Duclos Point...Fished a couple hrs around there with only a handfull in the box. We decided to divide and conquer and off we went.

Punched a few holes at old way points with only another half dozen keepers...

Getting to be mid afternoon, 230, and I only had 13 in the box...Looking pretty grim.

Fired up the GPS and picked my next way point... opted for a spot out on the S end of the Flats in 32FOW... Pretty much out in BFE and it payed off! Never needed to move and left em bitting with 44 in the bucket... Figured 35 was a good # to shoot for today!

Rolled up at first light and started marking fish...Too bad it took em an hour to turn on! Nothing more frustrating than marking em and they wouldn't go!

By 10am I needed 10 fish to punch a ticket... stuck it out till 12:30... but still needed eight fish and the freezing rain and started so I pulled the plug.

Ended up with 92....19 of em were better than 12".

Best lures were silver guster's spoon with an antifreeze bead and that custom goby rap I bought. This fish was the hardest hitting perch Ive ever caught! Yanked the rod out of hand!

Travel conditions were good on the Lake...About 5" of snow.. although that might be knocked down now. It was freezing rain when I left at 230 and drove all the way to London in it.

Did run into some tub busting pack ice east of Port bolster... but for the most part, ice conditons are fine... was on anywhere from 6-14".

My best area was 44.23 x 79.13...

But of course tomorrow is another day!

Hope to head back on the 13th if everything works out according to the plan...
