How much will this rain hurt the ice?

I fished today, in a shanty , spearing, it did rain, but it was a cold rain , that is going to freeze tonight. I don't think it will not hurt a thing. About your layering question, Think of this, it layers ice all year, snow, or water. I think if you have clear ice, then "snow ice", you have this " soft" ice on top. With rain, you now have clear ice , but you don't have the layer effect, as much as you do with the snow ice, Look down your hole next time. You can see the layer of snow ice. Where the "clear " ice started, and when this other stuff happened. So, I think , as the season goes, if it rains, and is not warm, it may be good for the ice, maybe inconvenient , but better then snow ice. When I hear veteran ice fishermen asked for the ice thickness, they will respond, 4 in, clear , 2 in. white . If you have 4 in. of clear ice, and you get a cold rain , that also melts the surface snow , followed by a freeze, I think you now have 4 1/2 in of clear ice, and I don't think you could see the layer . I think its a good thing, IMO
