Most of the streams in and around Jackson are pretty small. Even the Grand "River" is more of a small stream. North of town is starts getting bigger, but is clogged with downed trees.
Honestly, if I want to fish a stream, I'd probably head north/downstream. Eaton Rapids, probably Lansing itself; hopefully there are some Steelies at Moore's Dam.
That said, you might be able to pull some Trout of the local Streams.
