Had my SBE1 out this weekend; from what I can see the '3' is tweaks only. Only true redesign is in the carrier & latch for mag tube loading; stock is updated but not all new; oversized bolt release is nice but no big deal.
The inertial system and rotating bolt I think are 100% unchanged since the original SBE.
Having said that I love Benellis and own 3; by all means get the SBE but I would not trade in an SBE1-2 just for the '3' given the $$ involved. Consider an M2 field if you don't absolutely need the 3.5" capability.
My 20 ga Montefeltro may be the gun they bury me with . . .
