Siding help

Back in November, we had a GFCI plug on our front porch short out and start a fire. Luckily my wife was home and knew something was up and called the fire dept and they took care of it by cutting a hole in the side of the house and put it out with the garden hose, which I was OK with all things considered. So we had an electrician come out and give things a look and install a new plug etc.

My question is when I get to fixing the siding, do I need to put the channel that the siding goes...
