Looks like to me the amount is $154,000 this year to sterilize 40-60 does and to kill 100. I did not see the surgery costs compared to shooting them. The reference to $250,000 is for next year.
Since I do not live there, it makes no difference to me how the residents spend their money. For sure, I would want the cheaper shooting option if I lived there. So majority rules. The majority wants to sterilize. Is that really so hard to understand ??

Regarding post #8: The sterilized does will be wearing an ear tag, they will not be shoot. Does that make sense ?
