Destroy King Joffrey!: #bringdowntheking

Now that I have your attention… Sure, we would all like to kill King Joffrey, but there is only one of him and so many of us. SKY TV in New Zealand has the solution. They have erected a statue of the despicable little brat in a square in Auckland and they’re giving you the chance to help destroy it.

Obviously this is all part of a promotion for Game of Thrones season four. All you have to do is send a tweet with the hashtag #bringdowntheking. As the statue gains attention in real life and online, a medieval winch will be attached to the statue, with a rope around Joffrey’s neck. With each use of the tag #bringdowntheking, the rope will pull tighter around Joffrey’s neck, eventually pulling him to the ground.

Mario Kart 8 Footage May Make You a Nintendo Fan Again

I have to be honest. I haven’t been a Nintendo fan for ages. These consoles that once had great games just haven’t had anything worth playing for ages. That’s just my opinion. However, this footage from Mario Kart 8 has me actually excited for a Nintendo game.

Of course. We all love Mario Kart. Every version has been a blast. And on May 30th its latest sequel will launch on Wii U. Nintendo even let a select few people try the game out at Best Buy locations during E3 last year. That seems like a lifetime ago.

And now Nintendo is reminding us all why we love this game and making us want to play it right now…

You can expect new characters, new Kart modes, and an awesome all new Rainbow Road. New Rainbow Road people! It is still almost two full months away. Damn you Nintendo!

My Little Pony Hood Ornament: Extra Horsepower

This isn’t your father’s Oldsmobile. It is Bronie Hayden Sailer’s, who is a serious fan of Princess Luna from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It takes a serious Pony fan to ride around in this classic Olds decorated with a custom hood ornament that looks like the little Pony.

Friendship is magic and it is also all up in his grille. His car grille that is. Hayden made this cool hood ornament with a 3D printer using a design that he found on Shapeways. After that he covered it with chrome paint and had himself a unique car accessory.

Now he ponies around his nay-borhood looking like a pimp.

Imitone MIDI Controller Turns Voices Into MIDI Signals: Impressionist

Digital audio software lets you emulate the sounds of instruments that you don’t own or know how to play in real life. But these programs don’t eliminate the learning curve. They’re still not intuitive. Imitone can change that. It’s an Windows and OS X application that helps your computer convert your voice into a signal that music creating software can understand. Imitone is a software MIDI controller. In simple terms, a MIDI controller turns your input into MIDI, a format that many music and sound creation programs can understand. Common examples of a MIDI controller include keyboards and drum machines. Obviously, with those MIDI controllers you still have to know how to play drums, piano, etc. in order to create a melody. But with Imitone, the only thing you need to know how to use is your voice.

Verizons’ Epic 12-Tuner DVR Isn’t a Joke

I’ll admit when I first saw this I looked around to see if it was some sort of prank for April Fools’ Day. However, it seems to be legit according to the reports out there. Why exactly does this seem to goo to be true? Well, it’s a DVR with 12 tuners. Anyone constantly fighting with other people in your home to decide who gets to record what programs, this is the DVR for you.

The device is called the VMS1100 media server and it has six integrated tuners of its own and can be combined with extender boxes to allow up to 12 shows to record at once. This makes my Dish Hopper whole home DVR with five tuners seem tiny by comparison.

The DVR has 1TB of storage space and it can be connected to up to ten TVs. You can get one if you are on the new Verizon Fios Quantum TV service. Unfortunately, a DVR with this many tuners isn’t cheap. The single box is $22 monthly; the dual setup is $32 a month, and each of the connection boxes for additional TVs costs $10 monthly. Of course, those fees are before you pay a dime for content.
