John Deere tractor help???

I have a 1971 john Deere 2020 tractor (I use it almost everyday to feed horses), a week ago it died while I was using it. I tried to start it again, the engine turned, but didn't start, so after about 5 seconds I turned the key back to the off position. But the engine kept turning, I had no control over the engine except to let it die on its own. I tried to pull the cables off the battery, but they were too tight. The cables burnt up, into flames, I put snow on it and got the flames out. So we pulled it up to the barn with the truck. I replaced the cables. We believed the problem to be the solenoid, so we replaced that. Once we replaced the solenoid (yesterday), it worked fine. But tonight it did the same thing again, but it died before the cables burnt up. I can't find anything on Google, so here I am, hoping that someone here may be able to guide me in the right direction.. My only thoughts are maybe the key switch?? Any help is appreciated (it's a pain to pull out round bales with the truck)!!!

This stuff works lol..

So I started my first bit of habitat work a couple weeks ago. Nothing too exciting for most of you guys, but I'm pretty amped!

I put in a few "natural" beds in some thicker area just by clearing some low branches in spots and putting down some side cover. I also made some bedding spots with hinge cuts. All the spots I trimmed up or hinge cut now have bed imprints in the snow!

I also did some hinge cuts to redirect some travel routes, thats working too!

This spring/ summer will be my first attempts at food plots. So needless to say I'm getting pretty stoked......I can see how silly stuff like this causes the addiction!

Do any of you guys have camps on seasonal road?

So as I stated in my previous thread I'm looking for a hunting camp in the UP. I have been finding a lot of camps/property on seasonal roads or on atv/snowmobile trails. I wanted to know how you guys go about accessing them in the winter months like we're you park and how you get in to camp. Thanks.

Wild Game Dinner at O'Kelley Council Knights of Columbus

Our wild game dinner was very successful. I hope everyone that attended had a good time and enjoyed the food. It was nice meeting the sportsman that I only knew as Michigan-Sportsman handles like KBAR, Ricky Missum, bucksrus, DoubleJay, Skinl19, wavie, and wall-llard Willie.

A BIG thank you also goes out to all of the sportsmen that donated game that allowed us to put the dinner on. I hope you like what our cooks did with your game!

We're already planning next years dinner!

Thank you all,

Mike (Papa) Greco

Lost Clam Chair

On Friday morning (2-27-15) @ approximately 8 am my clam ice fishing chair slipped out of the back of my truck at the stop light by the Harrison Twp boat launch on Jefferson south of Crocker. I am a young female and I fish by myself. I am new to ice fishing this winter and had a lot of new tackle, gear and my shanty poles in the chair. If your the good simeratan who found it please turn it in at the Sportsmen Direct Bait Shop located on Jefferson, just south of where you found the chair...thank you!!!
