Completed reclaimed burlap Herters

Well I finally finished the first hen goldeneye. Bought the beat up Herters for $5 a piece. I had the burlap and Tilex around the house. I did buy the heads for $5 a piece from Autumn Wings and they are AWESOME. I had a student paint the body and I did the heads. I will dull down the orange on the bill a bit but think they will be a nice addition to the Goldeneye spread. Plus, my 10 year old son helped and also got a buddy who just started water fowling into this. What do you think? Any constructive criticism is welcome

Keeping minnows alive - remote fishing trips?

general question about keeping minnows alive...thought I'd start here. I go on an Ontario fishing trip each May, and we portage in several miles to the lake we stay on. The last few years the minnows have been very difficult to trap, and even the locals have quit trying. So I'm thinking we could try bringing a few dozen in with us? Problem is the nearest bait shop is about 40 miles from where we park our trucks, THEN we portage over several lakes for a couple hours before we're at our cabin. I'm wondering if anyone has advice for keeping minnows alive on remote trips like this? We have no power in there, so anything like a portable aerator would have to be battery powered. Ideas?

Encore long gun to pistol... illegal?

I was told by my local PD that in January of 2013 there was a revision stating that it was again illegal to assemble a T/C Encore from a long gun to a pistol. My understanding was that in July 2011 it was changed so you could interchange any configuration of long gun and pistol. I have searched the internet and this forum for a thread that I thought clarified this issue but I had no luck retrieving it. Any help would be appreciated.

Entourage 2015 Movie Review

1978 Bayliner Runaway with a 1983 70 hp Mariner outborad

The story is an acquaintance owned it. He said he used it 1 season and parked it when he got a new boat. He stated it was parked for 11-12 years. I do not have a history of how it was stored or what was done to it during this storage time. He states he had it checked out by a "marine mechanic". I have put it in the water and fished from it and ran it around the lake. Once I got it started, I struggled a bit but I think I just did not have the throttle in its sweet spot, it warmed up and did not smoke and would start with the touch of the key without choking it. If we fished for maybe more than 1/2 hr. it seemed to need to be choked, it was a cool day. It ran at full throttle smoothly without detectable noises at near 6 grand, according to the tachometer that is on it, and I pulled it down to neutral and it stayed running. It has expected ware... small cracks around the snaps some decal peeling. The main keel has some minor chipping, I will make closer inspection in time.

I have only owned a 14' aluminum flat bottom with a 4 and 6 hp so I am new to this. So what should I beware of? I have heard that the older fiber glass boats have wooden struts and are subject to root, I decided to take my chances. What can I do as the new owner to insure a pleasurable experience? I do see the motor has 2 plugs the same and one looks different I have not checked the numbers or brand yet.
