I'm looking for tips on using a drag rag

One area I hunt is only 8 acres, butting up to hundreds of others. The way I walk in is down a 2 track about 1/8 mile. My stand is 15 yards off that, facing away from 2 track. This year I wanted to use a drag, but had some questions. What time of year should I start? What type of scents to use? When should I drop the drag? I don't want to start right when I enter the woods do i? If a deer cuts my trail, what ensures he doesn't turn and follow it the wrong direction? Any tips are appreciated!

FIL Clear Cut Primary Scrape Area - What can I do?

To my utter disbelief my FIL completely clear cut a heavily trafficked 'primary scrape' area earlier this summer on his property. His excuse, "I wanted to be able to drive my truck all the way to the back of the property."

The last two years since discovering this area I have counted no less than 5 scrapes at a given time, countless tracks, well worn game trails leading to and from, have seen groups of does moving through here, and have witnessed several spikers chasing does. All in this single 60-70 yard stretch.

I've been down there a few times since he clear cut it and have seen absolutely -zero- deer sign where there normally would be tons. I'm wondering if this situation is salvageable. Maybe I could try opening a few mock scrapes near the edge of the clear cut? Find a new hunting spot? Help?

Wanted Single Shot

Does anyone know where I can find a used Savage or Stevens single shot 16 or 20 gauge? I am planning on converting it to a muzzle loader, therefore it doesn't need to be in good condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hillsdale county 10 acres plus home

Big buck country some management in the area already I have personally seen up to 160 class bucks on this property, and I do know without exaturating what a 160 looks like.. The home is aprox 3000 sq ft, newer 5" well, steel roof, alum sided. I have recently married and my wife and I have decided to reside in barry county at my place so this as much as I would love to keep it for the deer and turkey hunting I just cant justify keeping it and maintaining 2 homes. Very private all wooded only a few miles from Hillsdale. $219,000.00 call 269 8385939 Thanks

Some yellowing brassica...fertilize?

I was in our plot this past weekend and noticed that some of the brassica blend was starting to yellow as though it was lacking nutrients. It now appears I will be back on the property this weekend Friday and Saturday. Currently they are calling for rain on Sunday and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to throw some fertilizer down ahead of that forecasted rain?

I have about 20lbs or so of Urea left over from applying urea a few weeks back. Was thinking of getting some 12-12-12 or 19-19-19, mixing in that remaining urea and spreading.

Will it help revive the yellowing plants at all? Is it too late in the year for it to make much of a difference?

It was just some areas of the plot, not the entire thing, and other areas still look good (other than the weeds ). Not opposed to buying the fertilizer if it will help but if it's pointless I'll save the money.

Been a frustrating and confusing year for this plot.
