260 Rem opinions

I have four rifles in 6.5x55 Swede. You will love a .260, of you go that route. I have 3 in the M700 made in 1994 and a Sako 85.

Very light recoil, super accurate and with the sectional density of the 6.5's, you get far better performance in the field than you do on paper/reading ballistics charts. Other than the hotter 6.5's, the lighter 6.5 numbers are nothing sexy, on paper. But don't be dissuaded by those ballistics, compared to hotter cartridges in the caliber neighborhood.

Below is a good read on the .260. I take exception with the last line of the article. With proper bullet selection, like a 120gr Barnes, 130gr Accubond or 140gr Partition, the .260 will have no problem with elk at moderate ranges, just as the "weaker" 6.5x55 Swede has had no problem taking many 10,000's of Scandinavian moose over the last 100 years.
