The tiller is nice for making a single pass and having nicely prepared ground. It's also a heck of a lot slower and large obstructions (rocks, roots) result in broken tines occasionally. Areas with lots of surface trash need to be cut with a mower first or it becomes a tangled mess.
The disc I have is the heavier duty 6' KK with front notched blades and smooth rear ones. The surface finish is rougher and it requires 2-3 passes, but seems to be a lot quicker and feels less tedious IMO. The blades also hold up better to rocks and roots, plus cuts through the trash better than the tiller.
For you're suggested use I believe the disc would work better unless you plan on spending a lot of time picking rocks and roots. I'd suggest getting all notched discs if you'll be cutting through surface trash or using it on unbroken ground often.
Keep in mind that the effectiveness of a disc is often limited by weight per disc. More discs isn't necessarily better. The angle-iron 3 point KK stuff is also rather light weight. It might work for previously worked ground without surface trash, but the heavier duty version works more like a decent disc should IMO. If you find a good tractor forum or two and read through reviews of KK discs you'll find most who are disappointed got the angle iron one and the ones who are please have the heavier version.
