Creating beds in lowland/swampy area

I'd like to create bedding areas on my property, but the area where it makes sense to create them is lowland with standing water most, if not all, year. There's a few spots with decent sized trees that are dry underneath, but the area beneath the trees slopes downward towards the muck or standing water, and the tree roots are often just beneath the surface. Has anyone successfully built beds in situations like this, and if so, how did you go about it?
