Do you also have some high ground on your property spitzleyj2? I'm not saying a deer wouldn't bed in your swamp if you created a dry spot, but in many cases they prefer to bed on higher ground where they have some elevation for good viewing of approaching danger in one direction and good scenting conditions (prevailing winds & thermals) from the opposite direction. It is hard for us to say without knowing what the areas surrounding the lowland look like, but if you can give them nice comfortable bedding in an area where they prefer to be to begin with you will be way ahead of the game.
