I will be heading West chasing Bull Elk this fall. While I have always been in pretty good shape without working out, my 35th birthday a couple days ago made me realize I'm no spring chicken anymore. So the question is: for the flat landers that go west in search of elk, what was your training routine beforehand? When did you start? How did you train? How often? Wear a heavy pack while training? Results??
