Off shore board trouble.

This is my first year of using off shore boards and I love them but I need help fine tuning a problem. While fishing this weekend I had my line snap three times after tugging the rod to release it from the front clip. I only put the line half way in the clip so it shoud release easy. Last year I put new 12# test on all my reels so I know the line is good. Is anyone else having this problem. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
