Grand Lake?

Has anyone been on Grand Lake in Presque Isle this week? I can't get an answer from any local shops on ice conditions and certainly don't want to make the 4 hour track to find open water. I know they had ice before Christmas and need to know the damage from the warm spell. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Final auto rescue tally: Taxpayers lost $9.3 billion

By Brent Snavely, Detroit Free Press 10:56 a.m. EST December 30, 2014

The U.S. Treasury said it recovered $70.42 billion of the $79.68 billion it gave to General Motors, Chrysler auto lending arms Ally Financial Inc. and Chrysler Financial and automotive suppliers.

Story Highlights

Taxpayers lost $9.26 billion on Auto Industry Financing Program

Treasury Secretary: "The cost of a disorderly liquidation ...would have been far higher."

Taxpayers lost $9.26 billion on the U.S. government's automotive industry rescue program, according to a final tally released by U.S. Treasury on Monday.

The government said it recovered $70.42 billion of the $79.68 billion it gave to General Motors, Chrysler, Ally Financial Inc., Chrysler Financial and automotive suppliers through the federal Auto Industry Financing Program. The program was part of the larger Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP.

The government lost money, but far less than initially expected when the program was launched in 2009. What's more, the program prevented GM and Chrysler from going out of business — an event most economists and automotive analysts said would have caused the entire industry to collapse and thrown the Midwest into a deep depression.

At the time, some critics argued GM and Chrysler should be allowed to fail and that government should not be interfering with the natural course of the market.

"This program was a crucial part of the Obama Administration's effort to stop the financial crisis and protect the economy from slipping into a second Great Depression," U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said on Dec. 19.

The automotive industry recovered faster than most industries after the Great Recession. Sales of new cars and trucks in the U.S. have increased every year for five years and are on track to top 16.5 million this year — the most since 2006.

GM, Ford and FCA US are have all been profitable for several years. All three companies also have hired thousands of workers since 2009.

The government disbursed $49.5 billion to GM through the program, $11.96 billion to Chrysler and $17.17 billion to Ally Financial. As part of the plan, Fiat took control of Chrysler. The companies have since merged, and the new entity is called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles — with its U.S. arm called FCA US.

On Dec. 18, the Treasury sold all of its remaining stock in Ally Financial and closed the program. Treasury recovered a total of $19.57 billion from sales of Ally stock, a $2.4 billion profit. Before 2008, Ally was GMAC, the finance arm of GM. In December 2008, it became certified as a bank holding company, a step that made it eligible for the government bailout.

FCA US repaid its loans in June 2011. In December 2013, Treasury sold its last GM shares.

The final tally for the program was included in the Treasury's daily TARP update on Monday.

"The cost of a disorderly liquidation to the families and businesses across the country that rely on the auto industry would have been far higher," the Treasury department said of the expense. "The government's actions not only saved GM and Chrysler but they saved many businesses up and down the supply chain."

Last year, the Ann Arbor based Center for Automotive Research estimated that the U.S. would have had 2.6 million fewer jobs in 2009 and 1.5 million fewer jobs in 2010 if the two auto companies had disappeared. The study also estimated the government "saved or avoided the loss of" $105 billion in lost taxes and social service expenses, such as food stamps, unemployment benefits and medical care.

DNR to hold animal tracks and signs hike on Belle Isle, Saturday, Jan. 3

Contact: Holly Vaughn, 313-396-6863 or Ed Golder, 517-284-5815

Agency: Natural ResourcesDec. 30, 2014

On Saturday, Jan. 3, join the Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Division on a hike through the woods of Belle Isle to search for signs of winter wildlife.

The family-friendly program, which will last approximately an hour, begins at 10 a.m. at the Belle Isle Zoo parking lot.

"Many wildlife species are secretive," said Holly Vaughn, DNR wildlife outreach technician. "They prefer to go unnoticed to keep from being detected by predators. We'll search for signs like tracks on the ground, nests in trees, dens in hollow logs and even animal scat to see who spends the winter on Belle Isle."

Attendees are encouraged to wear boots, as they may walk through snow or mud, and to dress for the weather.

The hike is the second of the DNR's wildlife-themed programs offered on the island throughout the winter. Programs generally are held the first Saturday of the month. Visit http://www.belleislepark.org for a complete winter program list.

For more information, contact Holly Vaughn at 313-396-6863.

Saginaw River Presentation Questions

I see that much of the walleye fishing on the Saginaw River is vertical jigging. I attempted this style of presentation a few years ago on the Detroit River during the months of April and May and really struggled to catch fish. Let me state that I do not own an electric trolling motor on my boat. I switched over to hand line trolling and really started to connect.

My questions to the Saginaw River rats are as follows:

1. Is an electric trolling motor a requirement for vertical jigging on the Saginaw River?

2. Does anybody do any hand line trolling on the Saginaw River? I assume that lighter weights would need to be used than is commonly used on the Detroit River?

3. What other presentation techniques can be used successfully on the Saginaw River?

sadly so long....

I see there are some wondering if hunts will be

going this fall, regretfully the answer is no.I have been dealing with

health issues the last few years and the guy's,Hank,Bob,Steve,Steve,Doc,Dave,Danny

and Jerry have been taking care of things.I always looked foreward to helping people

and NOT doing it for profit.I enjoyed donating hunts to police officers, soldiers, firemen

and especially making the kids fill their wish to hunt.I cannot donate any longer due to

the cost of things,I only hope there is someone who can help the kids and the others

with donated hunts and keep their dreams of hunting a wish come true. They will

touch your heart deeply and break it at the same time. I have been deeply touched by many

none more so that Maxx Nunn the donated hunts were in his memory,he was a little boy with a giant heart.

I am not sure how long I will remember alot of things but I know I was blessed with the honor of making so many friends.

The memory may be going but everyone will always be in there some where. It has been an honor giving back to the police officers that keep

our streets safe, soldiers that keep us all free, firemen that risk their lives and the kids and other ill folks that have a dream.

I again hope there is someone that can keep the donated hunts going for these folks. It has me now in a state of depression and I cannot

imagine what it will be like to not be able to help people any longer and let the parents of the kids know I cannot help them this fall..Please donate when you can to St. Baldricks children and the american cancer society..

A couple of very cold days on W.S.P. How would you rate the fall Steelhead fishing?

1 out of 4 yesterday. And a total shut out today, in some of the worst blistering cold winds I fished thru in a long time. I could only take it for about 3 hours today. Had enough of the steelie fishing for a while. Bring on the ice. I'm ready for some fresh bluegill and specs!

Over all I would say the fishing on the pier/surf this fall and early winter was average.

With the rivers in my area being on the poor side. But there were few good days of river fishing just before gun season began. October sucked and December has been on a steady decline since the "pluggin outing". Opinions?

savage model 10 predator .243

Stupid question..... I just recently purchased a savage predator model 10 in .243 round from cabelas. It was the last one. I liked the rifle a lot but had a question for the sales person in regards to how the magazine seats into the rifle. There is not a metal guide for it or metal surrounding the magazine well. The magazine fits directly into the wooden stock. It has a small plastic release and you must fit the magazine into the wooden stock perfectly so that it is seated properly. I went online today and cannot find any pics of this type of magazine well. all I have seen are the ones that seat into a metal opening/not into the wooden stock. Has anyone seen this before or is my weapon missing something. going to call savage as soon as I can get a pic taken.

Disappearing Deer

Found this interesting.

Do deer really act differently during the hunting season? Biologists at Penn State say yes.

The Penn State deer study is being conducted by the college’s department of agricultural studies with the intent of studying deer-population management in the Keystone State.

Currently in its second year, the study will go on for five years, and so far, biologists have documented a certain change in the behavior of deer during the hunting season.

Several collars have been attached to does and bucks that live in the Bald Eagle, Rothrock and Susquehannock state forests to better understand this behavioral alteration. These collars track deer movements through GPS and transmit signals regarding their location every few hours in the summer, fall and spring, and more frequently during the archery and firearm seasons.

Duane Diefenbach, leader of the Pennsylvania Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, told reporters of their early observations:

“There’s nothing to suggest these deer are being impacted by the hunting that’s going on to any great extent. But once the rifle season begins, we see some pretty dramatic differences. Some of these bucks will leave their home range and go places we’ve never seen them in the previous 10 months. It’s pretty amazing.”

These changes seem to occur exclusively during the week of the firearm hunting season. but where do the deer go? According to Chris Rosenberry, head of the deer and elk section for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, deer have been going wherever hunters can’t, don’t or won’t go.

The Penn State deer study subjects are making good use of their hiding spots, as only 10 percent of collared does and merely 20 percent of collared bucks have been harvested so far.

“The odds are stacked against the hunter,” Rosenberry told reporters. “These deer are not nearly as predictable as hunters would like them to be.”

Here's another interesting study

http://www.bearbiology.com/fileadmin...olenosky_8.pdf

This study took place in east central Ontario. Those taking the time to read through it, I hope will learn....there are many factors influencing black bear reproduction. When you read statements coming out of the black bear symposium that breeding age sows reproduce every other year it gives the impression they reproduce like clock work. Not so, and these two decade long studies prove it.

Hit grouse, can't find

I am a dogless grouse hunter. Was able to connect on 2, but the third left a plume of feathers and kept flying as far as I could see (60 yards). I looked high & low but couldn't find. Any other hunters experience this? Can certainly see the advantage of a dog from this aspect too, but I would prefer to hunt without one. For the one that I missed, I used a 12 gauge pump with #6 shot & 2-3/4" shells. I have also used a 20 gauge single shot with the same shot in the 2-3/4", but the firing pin has been giving me trouble.

Any other dogless hunters out there? The birds were in the white pines with low hanging branches. The crop was filled with 1/2" long sticks with the bud on the end. A few green leaves as well. Happy hunting!

casting inline spinners

I have been making my own in-spinners for a while and I guess finally this year I realized the larger ones are to big for the rods I have. My brass bodies are 1/8 oz and i put either a # 2 or # 4 french spinner on them, most of my rods are light/medium action rods and they have no problem chucking the spiners with # 2 blades. Problem comes with the # 4 blades; they just seems like they are putting a lot of stress on the rod. I primarily fish the bad river for northerns and the shiawassee river between Corunna and Chesaning for small mouth and everything in between. I know i need a heavier action rod but i don't know how much bigger I should go with out going to big, like a M or M/H rod? Thinking it would also give me a excuse to get bait caster. regardless of what type of real that is purchased what would be the preferred gear ratio for casting in line spinners or does it not matter?

Does Anyone Read the Rule Books?

Screening trees

I need a little advice on what trees to plant as a screen between my house and the new consumers energy substation that was built next door. I consulted two landscape companies and they gave me conflicting advice. One said Canadian hemlock and the other said spring grove arborvitae. I need something that will grow fast, tall and is deer resistant. They must also grow in the shade. I know I'm asking for a lot from a tree, but those are the conditions I need.

Also, does anyone know of a good, reasonable landscaping company in the Grand Rapids area? Emphasis on the reasonable. I have two estimates from the two companies and they are out of sight.

Sales Tax Increase - How will you vote?

I guess that it will go to the voters to decide on a sales tax increase to 7%, but of course it's more complicated than a simple tax increase. How will you vote?

Here is the proposed wording for the referendum:

A PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE STATE CONSTITUTION TO ELIMINATE SALES AND USE TAXES ON GASOLINE AND DIESEL FUEL, ALLOW AN INCREASE IN THE SALES TAX RATE, DEDICATE REVENUE FOR SCHOOL AID, AND REVISE ELIGIBLE SCHOOL AID USES.

The proposed constitutional amendment would:

■ Eliminate all sales or use taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel used in motor vehicles operated on public roads or highways beginning on Oct. 1, 2015.

■ Allow an increase in the sales tax rate from 6% to 7%.

■ Activate other laws dedicating additional revenue for transportation purposes, including repair of roads, streets and bridges.

■ Require state funds for school aid to be used exclusively for financial assistance for public school districts, community colleges, and career and technical education and related scholarships.

■ Dedicate a portion of use tax revenue for school aid purposes.

You wore a big puffy coat, glasses, and a beard with the comparison to an over grown Amish man.

This happened yesterday, December 18, 2014. I'm still not over it.

I walked down the toilet paper isle to get brown paper bags for my son's christmas party. I had my 9 month old in the shopping cart. I saw you, comparing rolls innocently and I had a slight smile on my face thinking I'd spread the joy of the holiday season.

You didn't even acknowledge my presence, except by backing up so I could get through. I didn't think much of it then but now I know the cold hard raunchy truth.

You SBD'd. And I walked right through it. You knew what you were doing and you let me walk through your invisible green smoke of the death.

It was about 9:00am and so one could assume it was something from last night's dinner caused my eyes tear up. Sauerkraut? Cabbage? Maybe both?

If it wasnt dinner then I can only compare the smell to a couple things, and truthfully it was so bad I would bet money it was some kind of mixture of both. It reminded me of my underage drinking days after a night of drinking Natty beer. Natty beer farts. Or a shower fart. Two of the worse possible smells and I ate it. In my mouth. I felt it linger on my clothing.

How could you do this to me? Why? I wouldn't have judged you if you told me. But instead you watched me walk through the Isle like you were the victim.

I did nothing to deserve this. I had my 9 month old with me, we could have died. I'm sorry if this was the kind of fart that causes severe stomach cramps until you let it loose, but next time be courteous and warn someone!

Just wondering those who have planted corn for food plots in the past did you use rr corn or non rr corn? What were your results. I am leaning towards planting corn next year and haven't planted any yet.

Cold Smoke Cheese Project

Decided to do up some cold smoked cheese the other day. Used the excuse of wanting a short photo essay. BTW, putting some cheese into a bowl while hot smoking some meats provides excellent cheese to add to a pot of mac and cheese or use in any other hot cheese dish.

Can anything be done with swamp ground like this?

Here are some pictures that pretty much look like the swamp on the property line, i dont own more than 1/4 mile by maybe 200 to 300 yds depending, it is wet all year full of snakes and who knows what else but it is also full of deer and deer sign. I cant really hunt it because there are no good trees and its too wet and thick for a blind. So should i just leave it, or should i go in after it freezes and clear some of it out to try and make it thicker? I like the idea of making it part of a sanctuary i just wish it was a little dryer. I did bow hunt the edge of it one time the first week of nov and it was cool to hear them splashing through there as they are being chased, saw a decent buck that day as well but would not leave the ladies as the came out of that swamp through the more open dry woods and into the corn.

Clare Area Ice

Wondering if anyone has been on any ice in the Clare area. Not looking for anyone's spot, just if anyone has been out in the area.

PM's much appreciated if anyone has ice thickness info and would be willing to possibly verify before I drive several hours blindly (I have a list of lakes) :)

Once again, I am not looking for anyone's spot!

I'll be heading up Monday and I know things will change before then.

Dash mounted GPS

I am curious as to what everyone uses for their GPS? I am going to mount my GPS to my dash. I am going to use my LMS-522 Igps. It has an internal antenna, but does have some issues in snowstorms. Do you guys with handhelds with external antennas have the same issue in snow storms?

I am not looking to make this a long thread, but I am looking for some insight on what people use that shows the most up to date satellite images.

There have been some changes in the last 16-18 months to a couple of properties that I would like to see from a satellite.

Found- Male English Pointer

A co-worker of mine found a white, with black ticking, Male EP at Bald Mountain Rec Area on Saturday. She took it to the vet to see if was micro chipped, it was not. The dog is now at the Oakland County Animal Shelter if you know or are the owner of the dog. It had a collar with no information on it.

Lions Play Calling

This offseason, the Lions signed Pettigrew to a new contract.

Then they used the #10 pick in the NFL draft to take a tight end.

All of those resources invested in the tight end position (I'll leave 2013 pick of Fauria out of this), and how many targets did Lion TE's get in yesterday's squeaker over the Bears.

Zero. And in previous weeks, close to zero.

I want Linehan back.

ps. I may puke if I see one more pass to Tate behind the line of scrimmage. Defenses are totally on to that one.

Late Season Hunters?

Hey guys I am curious if anyone went out to the Dakotas for some December pheasant hunting? I am planning a December trip out there next year and would love to hear what I am getting myself in for. I have never been hunting out west yet and I will be bringing my GSP who will be 3.5 this time next yr. This will be the first time he will have been on wild roosters, unless we get lucky and find a wild one in the thumb one of these days. He has been awesome on grouse and woodcock as well as the put and take birds. Lookin forward to reading some of the comments to come. Thanks guys!

December 19th kang

Had some success back bouncing on a Friday, December 19th outing. In the last hour of the trip a rod got slammed. 9'6" ultra light South Bend Trophy Tamer was the victim. The rod was doubled by the time we got a hand on it. The battle ensued for a while with runs under the boat, near the anchor rope, and everywhere just out of reach of the net. We got her up, head shaking like crazy we swore it was a big LRB. Surface broke just out of reach of the net. I thought for sure we would lose our big ol brown at the surface. When we finally got the fish in the net, sure enough it was a semi/-silver, hen king around 13lbs. Beautifully colored with a green hue and mostly silver sides. Most importantly filled with gold treasure. This is my first time battling with a December king. Nice surprise to top off a great day on the river. Just when i needed more eggs.....Attachment 72060Attachment 72061Attachment 72062Attachment 72063Attachment 72064

Supplemental Feed Results, your experience.

Hey all,

Just got back in to hunting this year, and like most things, I am all in or all out. I am hooked, and looking to start making the most positive impacts I can on the herd in my hunting area. My hunting spot woods are literally 80ft deep by 375ft wide, on the edge of a friends 4 acre bean field, it is small but in a premium location. I harvested a 10 point and have a 8 and 9 still alive and numerous smaller bucks. This is in Eaton County.

I want to give the deer in my area the best chance at being healthy and producing large antlers, so here I am getting ready to supplement their feeding. I just received my American Hunter 225# timed tripod feeder, I plan to mix corn and record rack professional and slowly taper down the corn. I am planning on a second free choice feeder, a Banks Outdoors 275# feeder. These will turn my small little plot in to a zoo all winter. I would expect 30-40 deer to be using them on the regular once they adapt.

I was wondering what others who supplemental feed results have been like after implementing it. Not corn but high protein foods. Have you seen the results you were hoping for? Are the deer using it regularly? Do you use it all year except for hunting season? How much feed are using annually? What kind fo feed are you using?

I just want to talk feeders to others who are using them. I hope by hauling 500 pounds of protein out at a time to my little plot will make a substantial difference over time.

Pheasant Preserve/Young Dog question

I was asked by a friend recently to go to a pheasant preserve. He said he would be fine with me bringing my dog along. She is a little over a year old, has had 10-12 outings this year with me on grouse and woodcock. Has pointed and held the grouse, enough for me to get a shot off. My question is, what are the risks I am taking with my young dog and three hunters as well as 15 pheasants? Is there an age that is best to take a dog to a preserve?

2015 Habitat Plan

I've been working on making a habitat plan for my father's 115 acres. Right now there is approximately 45 tillable acres, roughly 40 acres in a permanent easment of crp grasses, and 20 acres of woods. The last 7 or 8 years we have been passing on 1.5 yo bucks and have passed on a fair amount of 2.5 yos in the past 5 years. We have taken and had opportunities at a few 3.5 yos and even had a 4.5 yo on camera.

The tillable acres will stay in production besides some screening of spruce trees along the border. The center of the north field has an existing swale that is appoximately 10 yds wide by 125 yds long and is an existing sanctuary. It is made up of a mixture of willow brush and cattails. The fields have 50ft filter strips that expire in the next couple of years, however I am trying to get dad to leave them in for additional cover.

The crp is a mixture of big blue stem and little blue stem grasses along with various other grasses, weeds, and forbs. The grasses have been in since 2000 and we now have pockets of cottonwood willows growing in. We have spent every year planting trees along the border, but still have many to plant.

The north half of the woods was select cut last year in an effort to get a little more sunlight to the ground. Most of our woods is park-like and I am looking to change that. We have plenty of white and red oaks along with maple in the north half and aspen, elm, maple, and cottonwood in the southern half. I plan on cutting most of the mature aspen and cottonwood down for fire wood, and hinge cutting multiple areas for bedding. I will also be planting conifers this spring for thermal cover.

We have 3 existing foodplots that are the western most shown on the image. We have planted corn, beans, sorgum, oats and peas, wheat, rye, clover, radishes, and rape. Oats and peas have been the top producer this year. I am looking at creating three smaller food plots that are shown in the woods.

The property to the east gets mild pressure from about 3 hunters. The north border of our woods has probably 6-7 stands within 10-30 yds of our property line. I don't think I want to change a whole lot in the north half due to the pressure there. Really don't feel like helping the neighbors out as they seem to be hunting ours already. Little to no regard for deer age in their harvests. I plan on hinging a screen and using the property line as stand access.

Sorry there is not a legend on the map and some colors are hard to see, but it is as follows:

White- Property line

Dark Blue- Water

Yellow- Screening (Spruce,Pine,Hinge Cut)

Red- Stand access

Red Circle- Stand sites

Light Blue- Bedding

Green- Food Plots

Light Brown- Travel Corridors

Many folks have been very helpful sharing their wealth of information and it is greatly appreciated. I have read both of the Jeff Sturgis books and plan to pick up Bio's book as soon as it comes out. I also plan on going to the QDM day at Scott Bishop's place this spring. Even have a Silky Zubat on the way. Thanks for all the information and I would appreciate it if you let me know what you think about the plan. North should be North in the picture if it shows up right.

Template for cabin owner association...

My cousin and his family are entering into the purchase of a number of cabins on a single piece of property. They want to have a simple agreement between all the cabin owners regarding payment of expenses, use of cabins, use of common areas, and general rules signed between them all. I have a very basic agreement drawn up...but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share an agreement that they have that has served them well over the years? Thanks in advance.

looking for "easy" elk hunt

So, I know all the usual statements regarding hunting and elk hunting in particular. I don't need anyone telling me I am nuts, but here is the deal.

My dad wants to do an elk hunt. He is still in fairly good health, but he is in his 70's and his body is breaking down. He had both knees replaced last year, is diabetic, etc. For these reasons the traditional rugged pack in elk hunt is off the table. We are looking for a ranch style hunt (not high fence) out west (state not important) with a nice outfit and accommodations. I assume a hunt like this would specialize in hunting from a blind or stand. Although we bow hunt and the idea of hunting elk with a bow is intriguing this will be our first elk hunt so I think I would prefer rifle.

So, that said does anyone have any good recommendations for next year? I have been doing some looking and will hit the local sport shows but since there is a wealth of knowledge here I thought it would be worth asking. PMs are fine.

Thanks in advance all, and good luck out there.

Warne Rings

I purchased 2 sets of Warne QD rings to attach a Burris scope to my 444 Marlin Encore (pistol) barrel. I really could only use 3 of the rings because of spacing issues but, unfortunately, they only come packaged as a pair. Installing them (no, did not have a torque wrench), I became a bit overzealous in tightening one of the top screws and snapped it off. Good thing I had an extra! As you could probably guess, yep, I broke another screw installing the third ring. A quick email to Warne, inquiring about a couple of screws resulted in a response that said, because the screws were so small, drilling one out could damage the threads, so they sent me a new package of rings.

Two lessons from that experience ... 1) follow the instructions! When a specific torque setting is required, use it (yes, I now have a torque wrench). 2) Kudos to Warne for their response and quick action in the matter. Not only does the company make a great product, their customer service is beyond reproach.

State Passes Legislation Eliminating County Gun Boards...

I read briefly that it was part of the deal to secure a Rep's vote for the state sales tax increase.

Any ideas on how it would work moving forward? I imagine it could stream line things with just the county clerk and the MSP involved and no "board" to wait for...and some of you might not have to appear before that board anymore?

Late season: Field or water?

I have heard of lots of guys hunting late season on both water and in a field so which is better? It all depends on the area your scouting. I have realized that over the past years that having a great hunt comes not only down to scouting but patience. Patience is something that every waterfowler should have when hunting late season. As wade borne from ducks unlimited says don't call too much let the ducks work themselves. Calling to much can show the birds that your just like every other hunter that they passed on the way down south. Late season is like the waterfowlers A game and we have to bring all our tricks the either the field or the water. When hunting late season over water either frozen or not you have to keep in mind the sound amplification or the echo of your call off the water in which case you should always bring a softer call when hunting late season. If you see ducks dry feeding in your field that your hunting the next day you always have to keep in mind that brushing your blind in corn, peas or beans is your number one priority. Hunting over smi-frozen water can be very successful if you have the birds and the conditions. Too me hunting late season mallards on open water is the best because we get to use all our knowledge about waterfowl to the test. Late season is one of the best seasons here in Michigan.

kill ducks!!

Late season: Field or water?

Which tag do you use first?

You have your two deer tags and you either take a doe with a bow or you take a buck with 4 points on one side with your bow or firearm.

Do you use your unrestricted tag, technically forcing you on the next deer to take a buck with 4 points on a side with a firearm or bow.

or

Do you use your restricted tag leaving you the opportunity to shoot any buck with a firearm or bow, if not in a APR zone.
