Here is how I predict the Saginaw river conditions.

A lot of folks ask for predictions on the water levels for the Saginaw river. I have been doing this for quite awhile now and this is how I approach it.

At 4:00 pm yesterday, I added the total volume of the Shiawassee = 1580, The Flint (at Flint) = 2450, the Cass at Frankenmuth = 3520, and the Tittibawassee at Midland = 11,500 which results in a total volume of 19,500 cf/s. The sum result is pretty consistently the total volume at M-46 in Saginaw 12 - 15 hours later - I just checked and as of 7:00 this morning = 19,500. Add the volume numbers from this morning for the 4 rivers and the volume is 17,070 - which should be close to the volume between 9 and 10 tonight. You can do the math again tonight but I bet it is not worth fishing tomorrow folks - at least from Saginaw to the mouth anyways as I would expect the volume to be around 14,000 in the morning.
