Buying a boat have a question

Looking at buying my first boat tomorrow, it's a 2004 16ft Deep-V Alumacraft with a 50hp tiller. Mostly for the river and inland lakes, but was wondering if it would be enough boat for the Bay if I pay close attention to the weather ?
