Just wondering any opinions and/or any known facts about the dangers/risks of eating Lake Michigan Lake Trout, specifically from the grand traverse bays? The advisory suggests eating ZERO lake trout, but they spend millions of dollars raising and sticking them? I catch and love eating them but due to risks have severally reduced my intake to probably 1 or less meals in a month. I've heard the toxins in them can due harm to your reproductive organs, and since I'm 28 and just starting a family, I figure it's best to take caution. Whenever I clean and do eat them, I trim away as much fatty tissue / lateral line dark meat as possible. I've also heard they grind up the entire fish, entrails and all, when testing them, so I wonder if care is taken If moderate consumption is ok? Or do they test then at all with a well trimmed fillet? Thanks In Advance, tights lines all!!
