Navionics and lowrance units

I'm stepping away from the traditional flasher units. Just purchased a elite 5 hdi unit with GPS. My question is after looking on Navionics site. It appears the navionics + chip is only one is worth it. Could you comment on your experiences good or indifferent . Should I be looking at another brand ?

I had navionics on a phone . I liked it until it decided to join the fish .
