Well id have to say this would be my most successful season yet. Flashback to the youth hunt I shot my very first buck on the second morning of the weekend. It was a crappy day , rain and windy. I didn't expect to see much and I only wanted a buck. I wasn't very confident but we got it done about 45 minutes into the hot I dropped a little spike horn in velvet dead in his tracks with our Remington 700. I asked my dad after I shot it , I wonder if I'll be able to shoot two more and have my 5th deer ever by the end of the season. (This was my third) he said it was very possible and said he was confident I could do anything I set my mind to. Fast forward two weeks to opening day of archery season, my dad got me out of school early and me my brother and my dad headed up to our property to hunt for the next 5 days. We got up at about 230 pm and scrambled to get ready and get on stand. I decided to sit in a stand a mere 80 yards behind our house overlooking a foodplot where a woodline and grassy field meet. It was about 7 o'clock when I figured that night would be a bust. Then seconds later I hear a stick break behind me. I turn to look and see a horse of a doe munching some acorns. I text my dad I got deer here it's go time, don't text back. The deer walks out in the field and parallels the woodline walking towards the foodplot. Head goes behind a tree , I draw. It steps into a small opening where it's vitals were exposed and I smacked her at 12 yards. I watched her run out of sight and heard her crash. After dark I walked over to my dad and brother and funny enough she died 35 yards in front of my brother!!!!! Next up was the second weekend of gun season. I sat in another stand very close to my house and about an hour before dark a small button buck showed up. He hungout for 30 minutes or so and walked off. Just as I hung my gun up I saw 2 more coming. The fawn started feeding and mom popped in next and shot her in the head with buck shot at 30 yards. Got down tagged her dragged her before everyone else even made it back to the cabin. What a season! I did shoot two more and get my 5th deer and I couldn't be happier. Hopefully everyone had a safe and great season too. Couldn't be more thankful
