Disk leveling attachment

While looking at some of the larger ag equipment I have noticed most disks, soil finishers and vertical tillage implements have some sort of leveling/finishing attachment hanging off of the back of them. Usually a spike or spring toothed harrow or a rolling basket.

I figuired if it works for them why not try to build on to hang off the back of my disk. So after a few trips to Alro steel I had all I needed to begin fabrication.

The main tube to which the teeth are attached to is 3", 1/4" wall tubing. The tubing was all random drops so I had to join two pieces to make the main bar.

Next was building the hinges. I used clevis mounts welded to 2" tubing for the hinges. They are welded to 3"x7" 3/8" plate to be able to is u bolts to attach them to the back of the disk.

All that was left to do was to build the arms off of the main bar to attach to the hinges u bolted to the disk frame. I used 2" tube to build the arms.

I was able to use it a little this past weekend and I works well, I believe if I add a little more weight to it it will work excellent. In all it accomplished exactly what I had hoped for, which is a more finished seed bed in one pass than a disk alone can accomplish.

I have about $230 and 7 hrs into the build.
