Last year was my first year using crawler harnesses. I used bottom bouncers and mainly drifted down the river. I did use my trolling motor to fine tune the speed and believe i caught most fish around 1.3 mph drifts.
Sunday I was on the river for two hours. I tried the bouncers with no luck. I tried different speeds between .7-1.5. Not a hit. I saw 5 or 6 netted by guys that were trolling harnesses. They were going much faster than I was at 1.5 mph. I also tried a variance of depths. A few drifts i was in the drift I saw some caught..
Any input on trolling harnesses? Do you use inline weights or still go with the bouncers at the higher speeds? They had to be going at least 2 mph if not more.
I had good feel, ticking the bottom and felt like I should have got a hit any second but never did. I got 3 walleye in 90 seconds Friday on bouncers...dont know if it was my speed or if I should have tried in-line weights...any help appreciated, new with the trolling/drifting still!
Thanks!
