NDA Meeting

The keynote address last night, delivered by Canadian conservationist Shane Mahoney, was a stirring message about the importance of the 6% of North Americans who hunt conveying to the majority that do not hunt that hunting is not a frivolous activity. That because of the activities of hunters many populations that were dwindling (in some cases to near extinction) at the dawn of the 20th century, are now available in massive numbers.

He called for a scientific investigation of the massive amounts of food produced by recreational hunters that impacts perhaps half the citizens of North America, assuming that each hunter and fisherman provides food for at least 4 friends or family members. My guess is that is a conservative number. -
