Wish I had pics to prove it but, I missed an opportunity yesterday in southern MI. I had crows on the ground under the bird feeder yesterday and flying around. There was a flock of geese out on the edge of the open water and ice, resting. From the picture window, I could see the flash of a big bird flying by. I dismissed it as a crow or a buzzard. I looked another time to see a large bird coming in for a landing. Back to me, wings spread full, all white head and full fanned out all white tail (a mature bald eagle). I watched him (her) hit the water and splash around. I run to get the camera. Camera in hand, I check to see if it’s still there out the window. It’s now on the ice outside of the geese (geese could care less?) and had something in its talons on the ice to eat. After getting the door open and getting to the porch to take a picture……it was gone! Those geese watched the whole thing and they could have cared less! It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a bald eagle around here. I wish I could have that moment back on record but, it’s still there to me. I’ve caught an Osprey every now and then around here……
