I just did the maiden voyage on Saturday. Covered probably 5+miles of frog water and used muscles I never knew I had. That's after rowing a drift boat for decades!
I guess I'm out of shape!!!!!
Paddles, again don't skimp! Buy the lightest you can afford! X-a thousand strokes.....
I'm in close to 2500 with the rack, a GPS/FF, a set of wheels to get it wet. Can't even fathom 2 of them.....
Scored my Coosa deeply discounted in Grand Rapids. There's a place near the Ohio Border that carries several different brands, but they're currently closed into March. I would have loved to try several brands for comfort, but ran out of time.
Just in paddles alone, a friend of mine went through several, just to find the proper fitment. Many dealers have kayak days where one can take one for a spin. Personally, stay away from bargain brands. Even the "good ones" require energy!
Feel free to PM me! I did feel like I become "one" with my choice and hope it becomes part of a much-needed exercise regiment and allow me to fish uncharted waters, South and local!
I was fortunate enough to run into a field tester for Jackson on another forum and he gave me some pointers. Sure he was biased, but put me on right track.
Let's just say, I didn't flip the thing on Saturday!
Help on finding the right kayak
