Any general recommendations regarding areas where we might get into a pike or two and find safe ice? I'll be walking out with my 9-year-old son. We were supposed to be fishing the tournament at Crooked Lake (by Clare) tomorrow, but found it was cancelled after we were already an hour north. After finding really sketchy ice on Lake Cadillac, we decided to stay here, but fish Missaukee in the morning. Any advice would be appreciated, and I'd be happy to return the favor as to any lakes I fish around Grand Rapids.
