Smile Says It All

Finally learned the true meaning of "Pass It On"!! Took my 11 year old out this past Saturday on state land and couldn't have asked for a greater day. I managed to hear a single gobble at 6:30 am and couldn't get another response until the expert, my son, grabbed my crow call and got him to shock gobble. Once the guide, me, decided we got as close as possible the expert, my son, decided which tree we needed to sit against and where the decoy needed to be. The guide, me, began doing his best to coax him in but not much conversation was exchanged. Suddenly I got a hen to respond and I knew it was game on if I could troll her in. Every time she spoke I mimicked her reply. We'll to our surprise 4 hens were strolling our way with 2 long beards in tow!! The larger Tom decided that the 4 live hens were far to enticing to leave but - this bad boy succumbed to our decoy. After a little coaching and an assist from dad helping junior get the safety off, his thumb was numb from excitement, the Mossberg roared and this beautiful gobbler with a 9" beard dropped in its tracks at 18 yards. What more could a dad ask for!!
