Thanks for any help picking the right rod for the application....
Feel free to add/correct if I'm missing something for a go-to ice arsenal.
Some rods that I was leaning towards but not sure which really fit, and unsure on the action to match to the baits... looking for an "off the shelf" option.
#1 spinning rod for larger/jigging hard baits
- ML fast action is best?
#2 spinning rod for smaller weight ice tungstens, and jig heads i.e. 1/30 to 1/50 oz.
-UL fast action?
-spring bobber?
------in case it helps here are some of the bait designs I'm looking to use on each rod---- if not skip to end....
spinning Rod #1.)
note: sometimes tipped with eggs, eyes, waxies/spikes/artificial bloodworm?
spinning Rod #2.) small jig heads with plastics - or tungstens with waxies or plastics
Thanks for help on the final "rod selection process" :D Xmas present time...:fish:
Yes... I'm in need of ice..:evilsmile thanks for any tips!
- inland lake ice - perch/panfish
- For a newb starting out, I'm guessing it will be a shorter learning curve to use rods that quickly transition from a soft tip to feeling the bite in the backbone of the rod?
- will not have a camera or vexilar at times so feel will be important
- All rods will be used in a 1 or 2 man shanty so sticking around 24-28" range
- suffix ice line, with possibly a flouro leader
- I'm guessing the fish will hold up in 3-20ft of water, and I will try to fish that depth primarily...
- deepest section of lake is 60-66 ft, in one sharp transition/deep bowl so I'm thinking they will feed on the flats near the bowl in more shallow water
