Well, I am restocking most of my puddle ducks. My hot buys have done me well over the years but are getting beat to hell. I'm looking at adding 2 dozen mallards to my big water spread and 2 dozen for back water/ marshes. There is so many options out there that it is confusing.
For big water I am leaning heavy on the Higdon battleships. They are large and foam filled. We all know decoys will get shot hunting big water. I am also looking at stockers as well. Expensive but I hunt over restles for divers and you just can't beat foamers that have been coated.
Now the back water decoys is the confusing part. I'm leaning heavy towards Avian X. Everyone I know who runs them loves them. I texas rig decoys and I'm not going to baby sit them. I expect them to get scratched up. I've ruled out Dakotas. They are expensive and I think they look like a cartoon. Just goofy as all get out. I'm also considering G&H. I've heard their quality has went down though and I've wrote them two emails with no answer. Which pizzes me off.
What are you guys looking at this year? What do you run? When do all of the sales normally start? Thanks!
