Spent Saturday morning on Anchor Bay with my fishing partnner the Musty Mariner from the site, and once again O'l St. Clair did not disappoint us. We were just grubbing it with crawlers, bass minnows and a couple suckers for pike bait fishing 8-12 FOW. Our first drift only yielded a 4lb smallmouth, so on the second drift Musty free lined a 6" sucker off the bow of the boat. Half way through the drift Musty noticed something picked up his bait and stated running with it. When he set the hook his reel started singing and the fight was on!!!!! After a couple nice runs I was able to land the big girl, snap a few quick pic's, and guide her safely back into the water. We let her catch her breath for a few minutes at the side of the boat, and with one powerful trust of her tail she was on her way back to the bottom unharmed. We ended the day with the usual mixed bag of smallies and farm animals, but the Musky was the highlight of the trip. Im not sure how much she weighed, but she was thick and stretched the tape at 50". Another great day on the pond with my fishing partner I'll never forget. I love having such a tremendous fishery right here in our own back yards. Welcome to the 50" club Musty, that's a beauty!!!
