Okay, so I've leaped into the world of boat ownership for the first time. It's only a 14' aluminum, but it's a first for mr so I want to make sure I do this completely right and legal. So I've reviewed the handbook of Michigan Boater Laws and Responsibilities and have a few clarifying questions and a couple of things I need some input with:
1. Since my boat is 14' (6 hp outboard) and has no compartments and/or permanent fuel tank, what safety items am I required, if any, to keep on my boat? (flares, whistle, etc...) my night fishing would be in places like Traverse Bay & Betsie Lake.
2. I would like to do some night fishing, so I need to set up some sort of light system. It currently has nothing. What is the best way to do this? There is currently an anchor pulley set up at the tip of the bow. How/where should I place the sidelights? How about the white anchor light? What should I use for the power source and where to store (and also recharge) it? The seats are riveted to the boat, so there is no storage space at all. It's a basic 14' aluminum v-hull rowboat style.
Any help here for this newbie?
