I've done well just across from the patterson launch. Starting just up stream from the power plant. On the left side of the river (headed towards the coast guard station) there is a flat. I've fished the 10 to 13 feet of water area (boat over that depth) and ran cranks out on boards in the main channel and on the other side up towards shallower water.
Didn't use a ton of bigger deep diving baits because I didn't want them to dive very far. Flicker shad was a good bet. Hot and Tots worked pretty good as well. That is a pretty good flat and quite a long trolling path too. You can go all the way down to the Marina past the gaurd station.
