pulling transducer from kayak to use ice fishing

Someone here last year told me of how they removed their silicone-in trans-

ducer out of their yak to use ice fishing. I am thinking of finding a second

ducer when ice fishing. Questions are how do you hang it in the hole, floating

or on a rod so it reaches below the ice?? And, how does it work in the cold water? I don't remember the temp ranges for these things. I picked up Humm-

inbird 176I last spring. Took it out ice fishing once but with cramped room

I never set it up. Never had time to prepare a bracket. Hope we get some ice.:)
