Appears BB is taking a page from the DD play book by trading their three top prospects for everyday pitching. Similar to Detroit, it appears to be a win it now, or maybe never in Detroit. BB has never been to a WS in 16 years as Oakland GM and he's getting tired if being beaten out by the Tigers every year, in fact Oakland has only been to the ALCS once in that time span.
In Samardzjia they are trading for a pitcher with a lifetime 31/42 record and 3.97 ERA, all with the Cubs. He recently turned down a 17 million dollar a year contract extension, so keeping him in Oakland is going to mean bloating the A's payroll in the near future.
It appears Oakland improved their club by this trade. Is it enough to get to a WS, it will be fun to watch?
