Thinking to invest in some better gear without going too nuts, any recommendations for those whom don't have a boat with an enclosed cabin and like to get out fishing in the cold wind (combined with cold water spray?) Going 30mph into a ice cold water spray, and sitting anchored in the wind can make for a long day...
Looking to better equip for conditions to avoid getting wet and to stay warm, after a fishing trip where my crew wussed out :gaga: because they got wet and cold and the cold wind basically turned them into popsicles, it seems the gear can be the difference between cutting a fishing trip short and actually staying out for a few hours and netting some fish. (what a waste... ugg)
There is alot of gear out there, so I appreciate any advice on some good bang for the buck effective stuff for LSC fall/spring conditions, atleast it will help me to narrow my focus.
Usage is basically as long as you can boat on a water cooled outboard. I don't duck hunt so this is primarily for fishing. I could see me trying to get out to use it ice fishing if a buddy invites me out to use their shanty or the occasional trip to an inland lake possibly without a shanty (conditions permitting), but that is a secondary priority.
Thanks for any insight...
Also I'm ok for this year, I'm more thinking ahead for future seasons, so I assume it might be best to wait until late winter or early spring to find sales on the gear? I've really never looked before so thanks for any tips. Also are you guys basically buying waders as part of the package?
I may also try to buy an extra set a bit over-sized for guests whom come in from out of town to go fishing, to try to prevent those shortened trips
