I was able to kill my best buck to day on the evening of the 17th. I head out to the woods at 1pm for the evening hunt. I knew the conditions weren't optimal but you can not kill them from your couch. It was definitely cold and windy. At one point I felt like getting down early because I could no longer feel my feet and hadn't seen a deer all night with about 45 minutes to go. Of course I didn't get down but man did I want to. For some reason I truly felt I was going to get skunked on this hunt. Then right around 5 I heard deer behind me. Not sure how they got there but I knew I couldn't move since I didn't know exactly where they were. A minute later a bb came past at 10 yards, he was followed by a doe. At least I didn't get skunked. As they fed out in front of me the bb suddenly snapped his head up looking into the brush. I thought he's looking at something, or he just caught my scent. A few seconds later a deer I had only seen 1 time before and described him to my wife as a Tank had stepped out of the brush. He began walking away, I quickly got into position settled the crosshairs of my sons 357 max Encore behind his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. Tank dropped instantly. As I scrambled to get another shell in the gun he let out a death roar. I still put one more shot in him as his head was still up and I had no intention of posting a story about how I dropped my best buck ever and he jumped up and ran away. I couldn't believe it. I honestly never thought I would see this deer again. Thank God I did and was able to close the deal after missing a deer on opening day due to my scope being broken internally and me not knowing it. I just had it at the range a few days ago and it was fine.
