Solo trip Saturday. Set up in 80 NW of piers. Had a double of steelhead going in 90. First one came unbuttoned about 10 feet from the boat, the other one was a 15 incher I released unharmed. Turned SW into the waves and headed out to about 300. Picked up 2 kings and 2 more steelhead (one steelie was 12 pounds so a decent fish) and had a couple other knock offs. All these fish were in 175 to 250 feet. Everything came off riggers, 35 to 60 feet down, all except one were on mixed veggie type regular size spoons. One came on a small green/white glow spoon slider. Nothing on the lead core, which was odd considering that has been good for me this year. Surface temp was 59 and 58 at 60 feet down everywhere I went. Might be the last trip of the year.
For the year, the king bite was definitely off, but the steelhead more than made up for it, and they were running good sized. In normal years my ratio is 4 kings to every steelhead but this year it was about 50-50. Caught a bunch of steelies 12-14 lbs and a number of kings up to 20, so there are lots of fillets in the freezer!
