It seems every year we get an old doe or two in our area that go into estrous in mid October. Finding these deer can make for a couple exciting days during the middle of the "lull". A couple years ago I remember an evening sit around Oct. 15th where a doe cam running through the woods with 4 yearling and 2 year old bucks on her tail. I thought I'd fallen asleep and woke up two weeks later.
Anyway...a friend across the road had a similar early rut experience last Sunday (Yes, October 12th!). While sitting with his son along a soybean field, a doe came out before dark with 4 bucks on her tail. The best part... 3 of the 4 were 3+ years old!!! They chased her around and put on a show until dark. Unfortunately, none of them came within shooting range. Either way, a very cool hunt for them.
I paste the video here as evidence and apologize in advance for the terrible quality (obviously struggled to focus). However, there are a couple views in here that should get your heart going...if not, you should probably check your pulse.
