Oct 10 in L’Anse Creuse Bay

Launched at the DNR Ramp on Jefferson, near the Spillway/Cutoff at about 3:45 PM. Retrieved boat at 7:15 PM.

Started trolling in 12 FOW at about 4 PM. Took a friend from Church when he got off work.

He caught a 16” SMB and then a 19” Walleye (while I was answering a text msg). I got skunked. I normally give my friends the three lures that have done the best in recent trips and I try different ones.

We ran lures from 7-10’ down at the start. Floating weeds were an issue. Toward the end of our trip I dropped my lures a few feet since we had worked our way out to 16-17 FOW. Visibility was an unbelievable 5-6’. The SMB took a Pink Lemonade DLR (600) running down 8’ at 1.5 mph. The Walleye took a Perch Cotton Cordell CD5 running down about 7’ at 1.6 mph. The wind was from the North/NW and we trolled with the wind.

Walleye was in 17 FOW and the water temp was 56 degrees. Good hunting for those going out soon.
