Well after a sleepless night I went back this morning to find my buck. I found the bolt exactly as I had left it and started tracking as soon as it was light enough.
I found zero blood and had only the general direction he went to follow. I checked the nearby swamp, the grass fields, the thickets and even the lakeside but nothing. I went back to my stand 3-4 times to regathering my bearings...and would you know, he was in the very last place I looked!
Interesting enough the shot wasn't as bad as I first thought with foamy blood at the nose and a rage hole in the cage! I'm sure he was dead within a half hour of shooting him. Gut just plugged the exit hole.
I'm one thankful hunter praising God for helping me find my deer!
