I purchased a 35 acre parcel 4 years ago that consists of 3 acres of tillable ground (which is planted with beans or corn every year), 10 acres of wetland tall grass, and the rest is woods. The 10 acres floods every spring and is typically dry by July 1st. The first 2 years I owned the property the flooding was not that bad, not drivable on, but just puddles everywhere throughout the 10 acres. However, the past 2 years due to the wet springs and snow we have had, it turns into a lake essentially (still drying out in July for me to drive on, but literally from late March until Memorial day we have taken a boat out to bowfish for carp as they spill over from a nearby creek). So my question is, is there anything that I can do with this 10 acres that would create a better holding ground for deer? Or maybe a way to have it not flood in the spring?
I have attached a picture of the grass that grows in the summer.
Thanks in advance.
