Waterfowl with single shot 20ga?

Brand new hunter here. I've been posting mostly in the small game threads lately, fishing threads before that. Recently purchased my first gun, went on my first hunt on Sep 15, been eating lots of squirrels ever since!



Here's my question: I've got a single shot 20 gauge, waders, a kayak, and a truck. Should I even *think* about ducks or geese, or should I wait until I have a bigger better gun, jon boat, decoys galore, etc.?



I always got the impression waterfowl hunting is very complicated, gotta have tons of decoys, a big bad pump gun (12 ga, magnum, 3" etc) but is it possible to float a stream in public land and take some birds?



Definitely won't have the $ for all that gear for quite some time, but oh man would I love to take some ducks or geese for the table.
