Looking for some suggestions as to how to remove a .50 cal bore sized projectile from my Thompson Triumph muzzleloader. Below are some details.
I just finished a week long elk hunt in Colorado, using my muzzleloader. CO disallows the use of sabots, pelletized powder, and optics, so I had to re-sight the smoke stick in with open sights and a bore sized projectile. I started off trying out the Hornady FTPs, since the Powerbelts I used last CO elk hunt, while accurate and put down an elk, did not expand properly and did not leave a blood trail. Problem was, the Hornady FTPs were hard to load into my barrel and were all over the place (sometimes not even on paper). That led me to try out Thor bullets. He's out of Montana, and sends you a sample sizing pack of four different sized .50 cal projectiles (in sizes .500, .501, .502 and .503). I measured up and found the right size, and ordered a 50 pack, and they fit perfectly and shot a 2.5" group. Great bullets. I shot a bull at 100 yards last week, double lung through shot, and he went about 10 yards and dropped like a ton of bricks. I reloaded my muzzleloader in case I approached the bull and needed a second shot, but never needed to do that, but when I went to remove my breach plug (and drained the powder) and pop out the projectile, it was stuck in there.
In hindsight, I wish I would have just shot the bullet out, but I knew I am supposed to be able to remove the powder and projectile on my TC Triumph, so I did that, and now I have the projectile stuck in there. I going to try spraying some PB Blaster in there tonight, but I'd really appreciate any suggestions anybody else has.
Thanks in advance.
